Instructions for gluing the baskets
Today we will show you a tutorial on how to glue baskets together using a special jig. Homemade jigs and tools can often be very effective in simplifying specific tasks.
First, all parts are placed next to the fixture and their positions are determined. A clear arrangement of the parts also makes it easier to check that everything is there and positioned correctly before the gluing process begins.
The long and short parts of the basket are placed on the jig and glued together. The waves are placed at the bottom because you basically glue it the other way round. The long cast part is held by the short piece.
All four sides are now glued together one after the other. The floor comes last and only when the glue on the four finished sides has dried. We always glue with Ponal Express. This takes about half an hour to dry completely. We have also heard from customers that you can also use assembly glue. However, we have no experience with this ourselves.
After drying, the base and the handle come. The base is perhaps the most difficult part of the whole thing. The basket is now turned and the base is inserted from the inside. There are now two ways of applying the glue. Either first on the bottom edge of the basket. The other option is to apply the glue right at the bottom (see picture). You can't see Ponal when it's dried, so you can do it this way. And it's stable. We simply put it on a glue stick here so it can dry.
For the handle, mark 3.5cm from the bottom, which you then also cover with glue. It is then inserted into the middle of the basket and pushed down until it can't go any further. The handle will find its natural position. The only thing that needs to be taken care of is that the handle is positioned in the middle of the basket :).
